Across two Toronto communities, Alvéole runs a living beehive program that gives Tricon residents a reason to gather, learn, and put down roots all year round. This summer, that story comes to life at the Toronto Life Garden Party.

Why Tricon partnered with us
A home is more than a building
Tricon has always believed that a great place to live is measured by more than square footage. It's the walk to the park, the neighbour who waves hello, the small moments that make a community feel like yours. A living beehive gives that feeling a physical home, right where residents already gather.
Nature, up close
A beehive is one of the simplest ways to bring nature into daily life without leaving home. Residents watch bees at work, learn how a colony operates, and see, season by season, the direct effect a single hive has on the plants, gardens, and green spaces around them.

What residents get
A beekeeper who visits regularly
Alvéole's local beekeeper tends the hive every few weeks, checking on the colony's health and sharing updates with the community. No experience needed, no work required. Just show up curious.
Events people actually want to attend
Hive tours, honey harvests, and hands-on workshops throughout the season, including a dedicated moment at the Toronto Life Garden Party where residents can meet the beekeeper and see the hive up close.
Honey with their community's name on it
Each harvest produces jars of local honey labelled for the community, a small, shareable reminder of what's growing right outside their door.
A digital home for the hive
Residents can follow along between visits: hive health updates, photos from events, and season recaps, all in one place.

What is the Tricon x Alvéole partnership?
Tricon has partnered with Alvéole, a local biodiversity company, to bring living beehives to Tricon communities. The hives are professionally managed and give residents a hands-on way to connect with nature and each other.
Will I get stung?
Honeybees are calm by nature and focused on their hive, not on people nearby. Alvéole's beekeepers manage every hive safely, and visits are designed for residents to observe comfortably from a distance.
Do I need to do anything?
No. The beekeeper handles all hive care. Residents are simply invited to watch, ask questions, and join events when they'd like to.
What happens to the honey?
Each harvest is bottled and labelled for the community, then shared with residents as part of the program.
